Moonraker Restaurant (Battle Creek)

On Friday the 20th of April we visited The Moonraker Lounge on
Beadle Lake Road
, as we returned to the hunt for good food that sometimes seems to be as hard to find as “the vertically challenged” amongst a large group of 1st graders at Chucky Cheese.  But we understand that just as we can look at every 3 foot tall 1st grader to find the one with a beard to locate “the vertically challenged”, we can search every establishment that serves what they believe to be “edible” cuisine to find the ones that serves food that does not leave you longing for those college days of pizza that has sat out all night, cereal soaked in beer, or if your lucky a grilled cheese cooked on a iron.  So hear is the breakdown:

We arrived at the Moonraker to find an older building with a parking lot that was nearly empty.  However upon entering the building it was clean and what you would expect of a bar.  We were sat at a table that appear to not have been clean from the night before when a sloppy drunk (probably female) spilled her “fu fu” drink all over the table.  The reason I say this is the fact that when I went to remove the little rack that holds the advertisement for deserts and different drinks, I had to apply so much force that I nearly pick up the table in the process to get it to dislodge.  On a positive note when it was brought to the waitress’s attention she gladly replied she did not close last night and it would not have happened under her watch and she readily wiped the table clean.

Once we had a clean table we were set to order.  I searched the menu looking for the processed cheese special but unfortunately could not locate it, so I ordered the Moonburger Triple Club which is a two patty burger with American cheese on texas toast.  I got fries with it and I shared some onion rings.  I have to say the burger was cooked well and appeared to be hand made patties.  They had a good taste to them but I do believe that it would have been better if it had Colby Jack cheese on it, as I am not an American cheese fan.  As for the fries I think they also were good but nothing out of the norm.  Now the onion rings they were above average hand dipped rings.  Please also note that they have a good menu that makes finding something to your liking fairly easy and the prices on the food are competitive.  It appears to be a great place to get together with a few people for dinner and drinks.

Now on to the service, the service was good.  The waitress was at that table on a regular basis throughout our time there, she made sure our drinks stayed full and that the food came out of the kitchen alright.  I really do not have any complaints about the service or server.

FOOD: 3.5 Stars
SERVICE: 4 Stars
AVERAGE: 3.75 Stars

Not knowing where we are going is pretty exciting at times.  It is much like Christmas Eve and the anticipation of opening the presents.  This week’s glutinous event takes us to a different area of town.  Biggin chose Moonraker Restaurant and Lounge.  It was a bit of a surprise, but nevertheless I was excited.  Having never tried the Moonraker in Battle Creek, I look forward for new obstacles for my digestive system.  Upon first walking in you could clearly see what the specials of the day were, and there were several to choose from.  They also displayed the drinks they had on tap, which was pretty nice to see they had 24 different beers on tap.  That is pretty exciting when you are a fat guy who likes beer…Mmmm Beer.

I must say after the dry erase board I was slightly disappointed as there was no one to greet you, and you had to seat yourself.  We sat at a table for six, even though there were only four of us (insert any fat joke you like here).  Again, pretty disappointed as the table was sticky, do they not know who we are?   This was definitely not a good way to make a first impression.  Shortly after being seated a waitress greeted us and took our drink order.  I must say I was very impressed with here attitude, and she was very prompt with refills, and checked in often to see how we were doing.  She has been the best server we have had since we started this adventure.  Service 4.25 Stars.

We started with an order of their “fresh” onion rings.  They were pretty good.  You got a pretty good portion for $5.99, I believe we had 7.  Some may say they were thick-cut, I don’t think they were they were, but they were decent sized.  She offered a horseradish or ranch sauce.  We had the ranch due to my companions dislike for horseradish (sissies).  They were good, and definitely hand-dipped, but far from the best I have ever had.  Plain, and could have benefitted from a good beer batter, or some seasoning of any kind.

For lunch it was my turn to travel down the deep dark road we refer to as “Nachos.”  My decision for the nachos was based on their “proclamation” that they used their own homemade tortilla chips that were made fresh everyday.  I ordered the Chicken Nachos Supreme.   Now, if you have read our previous blogs you will understand my concern.  The question of my meal was “Will there be processed cheese on the nachos?”  I was presently surprised that melted cheese meant they actually melted real cheese on the Nachos.  The chips were good and seasoned well.  It was a huge portion, and loaded with cheese, chicken, and black olives.  They went light on the lettuce, which was fine with me, it also had tomatoes and sour cream on them.  Served with a side of salsa, which was your basic out of a jar salsa.  My only real complaint was that the chicken was slightly over-cooked and dry is some areas, but who am I to complain to much, “I got real cheese”, and a “Nachos” worthy of their name, but next time I would try the beef.   FOOD 3.25 Stars

All in all a pleasant experience, the Moonraker had a nice sports bar atmosphere, good service, and good food.   Overall 3.75 Stars

~TFM~

Today's trip took us to the moon, (Bazinga!), or better yet, the Moonraker in Battle Creek.  The building itself isn't all that impressive, inside or outside, but it certainly was adequate and clean.  I had the open-faced meatloaf sandwich with gravy and a side of waffle fries (for an additional cost).  The meatloaf was seasoned well, having a nice onion flavor, which I believe it should.  I do have to say I prefer meatloaf with this type of flavoring versus the tomato based or bbq flavoring.  The gravy was decent and the waffle fries were good, not a huge portion, but they tasted good.  The waitress was very good, quick with drink refills and stopped by our table frequently enough.  Price was typical, meal and drink for just about $10.00 not including tip.  I'd overall give them 4 out of 5 stars on service, 3.5 stars out of 5 on food and an overall of 3.75 stars.  I'd go back there for sure.

REDLINE BBQ SMOKEHOUSE & CATERING

Located on Beckley Rd. in Battle Creek, MI it is one of the newest additions to our restaurants.  I must say that my first impression was mixed.  There were very few seats in the restaurant, and you walked up and ordered your food from the counter, paid, received your number, and then attempted to find a seat.  We walked right in, but shortly after we arrived the line was out the door (must be our following).  It definitely had the feel and look of a barbeque joint, but was small for my taste.  The servers did an excellent job, and we received our food very quickly.  They came back to the table (even though it was very busy) and asked if we needed anything several times.  They had a small deli cooler where they sold their beef jerky and in house sausage. Service was 4 stars

I was pretty excited (as most fat guys are around barbeque) to see they had a sampler platter.  I tried the ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and brisket fro $12.99.  I had a side of redline beans (their baked beans), and also shared a sampler with table of the Jalapeño Chicken Dip and Chips.  First the appetizer, although it was a little pricey, $5.99, it was very good.  Chunks of chicken in a white cheese sauce with diced jalapeño’s are a marriage made in heaven. Although it sounds spicey, it was not, but had excellent jalapeno flavor The chips came out warm, and were homemade and were the perfect carrier for the dip.  I was very pleased.  I enjoyed the redline beans they had a good smoked flavor, and a good kick to them.  The Sampler platter had some mixed results.  I will say that it was enjoyable going to a barbeque restaurant that does not need to drown their meat in sauce.  Sauce was on the table and you could use as much or as little as you wanted.  The ribs were not fall off the bone, and were slightly stiff (as I feel ribs should be), yet they melted in your mouth.  They had a good smoke flavor and a noticeable smoke ring they were some of the best I have seen in this County.  The pulled pork was also amazingly good.  It had a good smoke ring and smoke flavor as well, and it was very tender and held up well to both sauces at the table.  The brisket was good, but was over-cooked in my opinion.  It was too tender, and fell apart, but had a good flavor and would have been an excellent menu item if it was called a pot roast.  The chicken itself had me disappointed.  I am not a huge fan of skin in chicken (I know that is the flavor, but that is how I was raised...blame my mom) the chicken skin did have a good flavor, but that is where the seasoning ended.  The meat itself was bland and greasy.  It was far from my favorite food on the table, and unfortunately for me I saved it for last.  Food 4 stars

Overall 4 stars
It was nice to go out to lunch and not hear anyone complain about processed cheeseJ

~The Fat Mexican~

This week we review our trip to Redline BBQ in Battle Creek.  Located along the always-busy
Beckley Road
corridor, the store is new, clean but BUSY!  While admittedly, we were there at lunch time, the store line was always long, to the door when I left.  The eating area is very small.  We had to wait for a table to open up, but it's not fine dining, so the turnaround was fairly quick.  The waitresses were very polite and helpful.  Service was 4 out of 5 stars in my book.

The food was great, everything tasted like it was home-made, not Gordon's Food Service crap. The meat was not cheap meat, seemed to be more premium cuts. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with sides of jalapeno corn bread and Redline baked beans.  I love the corn bread the best, delicious, the jalapeno wasn't overpowering.  The beans had a slight kick to them but were very good.  The pulled chicken was pretty good but I was able to sample some of the brisket and ribs that the other guys ordered and felt those were much better.  The BBQ sauces were very good; with the Redline sauce is sweeter while the Texas sauce has more hickory and smoke flavor.  We also tried an appetizer, jalapeno chicken dip with chips.  Homemade also, and the jalapeno was evident but the dip was not hot at all.  Food was 4 out of 5.

OVERALL: 4 out of 5 stars.  Food and service is much better than other BBQ places in the area (here's looking at you OT's).  The price is a little higher but it is worth it in my opinion.

The Fat Redhead

Friday has arrived and brings forth another opportunity to indulge ourselves in Battle Creek Cuisine in the name of public education.  We have virtually sacrificed our own manly physiques so that you the public may make educated decisions on where you would like to dine, so that you will not frivolously spend your hard earned money on food that a raccoon would not pick out of your trash.

So on to the Redline BBQ Smokehouse & Catering located at
5275 Beckley Road
in Battle Creek Michigan.  When the decision was made to visit this new establishment my heart began to race and I began to perspire with great anticipation or that could just be the fact that I am over weight and my arteries were trying to convince me not to go.  I ignored my body’s cries for help and pushed on and I have to say I am glad I did.  Here is the breakdown:

Atmosphere:  The atmosphere was good.  It is a clean restaurant with décor that you would expect to find in a BBQ joint.  Seating was limited due to the size of the building, however we were lucky enough to beat the rush and grab a table that had just freed up.

Food:  The food was pretty good.  I ordered the sampler platter with a price tag of $12.99.  This platter came with BBQ Ribs, Pulled Pork, Brisket and Chicken.  With the platter I upgraded for $2.49 and added a drink and side.  For the side I ordered the jalapeño corn bread.  Here is the break down of the platter; the pulled pork was good and had a good smoke to it, it was not dry and pulled apart easily. The chicken I have to say that I did not care for.  The skin was seasoned but there was no flavor beyond the skin.  The only way to season poultry is inject it, brine it, marinate it, smoke it or get a rub under the skin and unfortunately that was not done on this particular piece.  So I would pass on the chicken next time.  However, the ribs were good, had great texture with the right amount of sauce.  As for the brisket, I have to say that something was wrong.  The slice of the brisket was falling apart.  It would have appeared to have been over done (not dry) and that particular piece had little smoke to it.  However, hats off to the pit master as the brisket is the hardest cut of meat to prepare and I chalk my piece up to just getting a poor part of the brisket.   Here is the good news they do not soak there meat in BBQ sauce, the sauce is at your table for you to decide what sauce you like and how much you want (this is unlike other establishments in the area).  If you are a BBQ fan you know that in doing this it allows you to taste the smoke and get an idea of the texture of the meat.  The sauce that were present at the table were a Redline sauce packed with brown sugar, a white sauce (Carolina style) vinegar base sauce and what they refer to as Texas Sauce which would appear to be their tomato base sauce.  I have my own opinion on the sauces I will leave that up to you to choose which you prefer.  Oh yea, the cornbread was awesome some of the best I have had.  I could have eaten a sheet of it. 4 STARS (if not for the chicken and poor piece of brisket would have been 4.5)

Service:  Wow. I actually was very impressed with the service at this establishment.  With them still going through that new restaurant rush, they had plenty of staff and worked extremely hard to take orders in quickly and still tend to the needs of the tables.  These waitresses deserve much credit for the entire experience; they were friendly and even with the line to the door came to our table three separate times.  I think that all the other places we have been so far should send their staff to The Redline for training.  4.5 STARS HANDS DOWN

OVERALL 4.25 STARS
***Please note***  BBQ is not like preparing food in a standard kitchen, is not for the faint of heart and is much harder than standard cooking and takes a lot of skill to do it correctly.  Also keep in mind at the time we went to Redline, they were new and going through the new opening blitz.  Once again hats off to the PITMASTER who obviously knows his BBQ and thanks for a great experience.

FBB

We went to a barbeque place and I had Mac-n-cheese.  It was good, and made with real cheese (you could see the grease).  It was magically delicious.

Taproom/Dark Horse Brewery

Taproom/Dark Horse Brewery

Located on
South Kalamazoo St.
in Marshall, MI, The Taproom is easily located right next to the Dark Horse Brewery.  First of all, I must say I am a little bias as this is not my first time to this establishment.

On this occasion, the place was very busy, and the servers reflected the chaos in the establishment, but in a good way.  They were focused and task oriented, but their hospitality lacked.  But in previous reviews I have had issues with servers goofing off and joking around, and that was not the issue.  They were just extremely focused and frankly did not have the time to socialize or greet customers.  I will say that when things slowed down (and yes we stayed long enough for things to slow down) they were very friendly and enjoyed or jokes about Opie Taylor having an allergic reaction, and yes the Fat Red Head does have s striking resemblance to Opie Taylor.  In the end it was refreshing to see servers stay focused on the task at hand. Service 4 stars.

The food as always was delicious.  On this occasion I had the ta Tanka which is their version of a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich $9.59.  It was an eight inches fresh French bread sub that was served toasted.  It had Buffalo chicken, banana peppers, red onions, mozzarella cheese and blue cheese dressing, and it was amazing.  This was the first time I have ever had a sub at this establishment and I must says I was presently surprised.  The freshness of the bread was amazing, and the ingredients melted together to form one of the best buffalo chicken sandwiches I have ever tasted.  The crazy thing about this establishment is that their menu is pretty decent, and I would go as far to say that it is above average bar food that is made in one of the smallest kitchens I have ever seen.  Their main downfall in my humble opinion is the size of their kitchen.  Serving some of the best sandwiches in the county with ruffles potato chips is a bit of a turn off.  This place needs a deep fryer (surprise!! The fat guy wants fried food) and could go a long way to putting the Taproom on the map.  Don’t get me wrong, I have never had a bad thing off the menu, but do feel they could do some work to improve. Food 4 stars.

On this day I also tried Sapient Trip Ale, and Fore Smoked Stout.  Both were good, and had their own positives and negatives, but that is a whole other blogJ  I will say, that if you have never tried Dark Horse Beer, and are unsure of what to try, always go with the Amber.  It is still my favorite beer there.

My overall experience at the Taproom was good (as always), and would return not only for the food, but also to see what happens as this place continues to grow and put Marshall, MI on the map.  Overall 4 stars

~The Fat Mexican~

Our latest foray into the local restaurant realm was lunch at The Taproom, the restaurant connected to and affiliated with the Dark Horse Brewery.  Much like Arcadia Brewing in Battle Creek, they are known for wood-fired pizza, but unlike Arcadia, it appears while not very expansive, the Taproom provides slightly more meal choices.

I ended up ordering the 9 inch (cue Beavis and Butthead "he said 9 inches" comments) Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza.  Toppings were bacon (of course), nacho cheese, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, hamburger, and red onion.  The pizza was good.  I'm not sure how I felt about having the processed nacho cheese on a pizza (and I, unlike the other fat guys, actually like processed cheese, hence why I'm fat), especially mixed with the other cheeses.  The overall taste wasn't bad, but I think I'd pass next time and try a different set of toppings.

I also tried several of the beers, only was a fan of the amber and the raspberry. The atmosphere in the place was interesting, sort of cramped; no frills but certainly not dirty.  Service was slow at first when only 1 waitress was in sight, but was much better when 2 more serving wenches appeared on the scene.  Overall, I would give them 3.5 out of 5 stars.  Had my food been a little better and had I liked the vibe of the place a little more, I would have rated them higher.

The Fat Redhead

So here we go way down the road to The Tap Room at The Dark Horse Brewing Company at 511 South Kalamazoo, Marshall, MI 49068 .  Upon pulling into the parking lot you immediately notice the bike shop and tattoo parlor adjacent to the brewery.  It did not look like they sold bikes with training wheels and who needs another mother tattoo, so we went ahead and entered The Tap Room.  It was a decent sized establishment with pretty cool décor.  We found our door (actually a table made out of a door) and had a seat.  Service was fairly quick to and from the table as the place appears to get that standard lunch rush.  Since we did not have to go back to work I ordered a couple of their micro brews which I will not get into at this time.  I also ordered the Oh No! Bourbon pepper turkey, bacon, guacamole, pepper flake & pepper jack w/jalapeno relish on ciabatta 8.99.   I have to say that the sandwich did take a little long to come out of the kitchen but when it did Oh Boy!,  this was a good sandwich, great flavor, they use quality meat and bread. Attention:  This is a spicy sandwich so those who can’t stand the heat, well order something else.  Also, the sandwich came with Asian slaw and chips.  Chips were chips nothing special and the slaw well…. It was not good, not a soy fan.
 Overall: 4 Stars
 Service: Gets four stars,
Food:  Gets four stars (keep in mind this is a brewery and sandwich shop not a five star restaurant.)

Ale House

This weeks lunch venture lead us down the beaten path to The Ale House, located adjacent to Springbrook Golf Course.  Upon entering the establishment I was pleasantly surprised at its inviting atmosphere and cleanliness’.   The menu had an abundance of options that is sure to provide even the finickiest of eater with something to try.  However I can not afford to be finicky if I am to maintain this masculine figure, so I went with the quick order of a Ale House Mushroom Burger ($6.25), with onion rings($1.50 sub.).  I have to say to start the onion rings were hand dipped and definitely come with a high recommendation from this fat guy.  However, that much can not be said of the burger.  Do not get me wrong the burger was decent flavor wise, but was small and did not fit the large bun that it was served on.  I also did try some of the loaded fries that I would say were a big disappointment. What the heck is the deal with these establishments processed cheese?  Once again process cheese is something you pay a buck for at a gas station or at the local fair.  Is that stuff even cheese at all?  So I have to say the fries for that reason alone were neither worth the money nor the time spent having your body purge itself of the so called “cheese”.  FOOD 4.0 Stars

Now on to the important business of service, which is so important to a food establishment’s return business.  It is this simple; if you have good food and poor service you lose return business, just as fast as having poor food and good service.  These two things go hand in hand and unfortunately the Ale House was unable to put it together on this particular day.  The restaurant appeared to be understaffed, the waitresses were loud and more interested in the mega millions 600+ million dollar jackpot (as if they were going to win) than in customer service.  Once again we were initially stuck at the table with empty glasses, until finally noticed by another waitress.  Also it is important to notice that you will need a full hour or more to have lunch here.
SERVICE 3.0 Stars

OVERALL SCORE 3.5 Stars

****Fat Bald And Beautiful****

The Ale House, located on Avenue A in Springfield, MI.  The establishment set right on the Springbrook Golf Course.  The view from the restaurant was nice, and the inside was very clean, and without a doubt exceeded any of my expectations.

However, it was busy and we were seated next to the server’s station.  Although we were located very close to the servers station our server seemed to forget us on several occasions, and at one point had another server bring us refills.  Service was absolutely below average.  Service 2 stars

One of my cohort’s and I shared the hand–dipped onion rings and loaded fries as appetizers.  I must say the onion rings were excellent.  They were light and crisp and were large rings, but there were only four onion rings.  The loaded fries were a whole different story.  A word of advice for future establishments:  If you are going to use good seasoned fries, good bacon and take the time to chop chives up for the fries, then why do you ruin them with processed cheese?  If you like the sauce, then please make a roux and melt a “real” cheese and make your own sauce.  At least then you have your own signature on the dish.  Processed cheese is what one can purchase at a gas station for $.99 nachos, not for a $4.95 loaded fries.  Don’t get me wrong.  I like processed cheese on my Taco Bell just as much as the next guy, but there is no room for it in the restaurant business.

For my lunch I ordered the Club Burger.  This is apparently a Club sandwich that has burgers patties instead of your customary ham and turkey. Although the patties were somewhat small, they were hand-made and had good flavor.  That combined with the fact that I got two patties on my sandwich made it more than filling.  It had good bacon, lettuce and tomato on it and was a very good sandwich.  I would recommend it to anyone who frequents this establishment as it was $7.95.

Now, I must give them some props as they had a pretty good looking soup and salad bar.  I did not order it, but was intrigued by one of the soups, Pepper cheese Crab soup.  I asked the waitress about it, and she told me to get a cup free of charge.  It had excellent flavor, but as I suspected the pepper jack cheese ruled the flavor category.  Unfortunately it was the end of the batch and the soup was lacking substance (crab), but was overall an interesting combination that I would like to try again (with the crab).  Food 3.5 stars

Overall, the food was good, except the processed cheese, but service was lacking and the overall rating reflects it.  3 out of 5 stars.

~The Fat Mexican~

The Facility was clean and busy with patrons and because of this we were seated close to the kitchen.  Having said that, the service was lacking.  All persons in our party had empty glasses and waited for a single refill. The wait staff were laughing and joking at the waitress station that was directly beside our table and some of the comments by staff were not things you discus around guests to say the least.  The timeliness of the meal prep was not overly long and to my surprise, the food tasted very good.  I had the Club sandwich with loaded fries and both were very enjoyable with great flavor.  Overall, I gave a rating of just 2 stars as the food saved the day.

Biggin

Our latest expedition was to The Ale House at the Spring Brook Golf Course located in Springfield, MI.  The atmosphere and décor of the building was nice and clean.  The day we went there, it was very busy and the staff there appeared to be overworked.  The hostess never was at the hostess podium to greet new customers as they entered because she was busy busing tables.  Our waitress, while pleasant enough, was not around very much due to having too many tables, including a table with 9 people at it.  We had 3 drink refills in the hour that we were there, which may sound like a lot to you, but the glasses were 12 ounce glasses or less that were half full of ice, so it was very easy to drink several servings.  Part of my judging a waitress is if she is Suzy-on-the-spot with the drink refills and our waitress definitely was not.  Points were lost by this business for their inability to be attentive to the needs of their customers.  I had asked for ranch with my food and she forgot that as well as forgot another item for another person in our party.

On to the food.  The food was actually very good.  The ingredients were of a higher quality that many of your typical bar/restaurants in the area.  I ordered the olive burger with French fries.  The fries were slightly seasoned and better than the typical cheap frozen fries you see.  The olive burger was very plain, literally only having olives and mayonnaise, no other condiments or garnishments.  Had I known this I may have asked for ketchup, lettuce, etc.  The burger was very good and the bun it was served on was fresh and soft.

Overall, I give the Ale House 3 out of 5 stars on the strength of their food and the nice atmosphere.  Points were definitely deducted due to their lack of staff needed to handle the amount of business they had.  I probably wouldn't get the olive burger again as it was pretty average, but some of the items the other people in our party had were very tasty.

Weezer's

Today was Weezers.  Located on 20th St. in Battle Creek.  Service--First of all their server was friendly and was very timely on drink refills.  That being said we had to wait 35 minutes for our food.  Being on a lunch break that only last an hr. that puts in a pinch for time.

Food--overall was pretty good.   4 of us tried the wings.  They are definitely some of the best in Battle Creek.  I personally tried the hot wings and the triple club sandwich and fries as well.  The club was good.  Nothing out of the ordinary it was a quality sandwich.  The fries were average to below.  They came out warm not hot, and may have been slightly under-cooked.

Price.  The club and fries was 6.99 which is a pretty good price here locally.  And it was Monday which is .35 wing day--always a steal.

Overall Weezer's of Battle Creek was rated 2.5 stars.

--The Fat Mexican

Haven't been to Weezer's in several years. Let's start off with the service. Service was good for what it was. We were there at lunch and there appeared to be only 1 waitress, a hostess and 1-2 kitchen workers. I'm guessing on the number of kitchen workers based upon the amount of time it took to get our food which was over a half hour. While we were waiting for our orders, several couples who came in and ordered after we did received their food before us. And before anyone asks, no they didn't get cold food, the food they ordered was hot food. The waitress was decent with the drink refills, which if you know me, is very important. On to the quality of the food. The wings were outstanding. Some of the best wings I've had in years. I had teriyaki wings and they were excellent, good flavor and a good amount of meat on the wings. I also ordered the chicken burrito. It was a good size and tasted good. My only complaint is that it was somewhat dry as in it would have been better as a wet burrito with sauce on it. It does come with sour cream and salsa. The sides were dull and flavorless, rice and refried beans. The rice was just regular rice, not spanish or mexican rice and the refried beans were pretty bland. For the price,, $7.99 for burrito, $2.00 for a drink and .35cents per wing (Mondays only), the value was decent for what you got. The best value was the wings. If I had known they were going to be so good I would have skipped the burrito and just ordered a larger amount of wings. However, only buy the wings on Monday as they go back up in price the rest of the week.

Weezer's, so here it is the breakdown of my lunch at Weezer's, a bar and grill on 20th street
in Battle Creek, MI. First of all it should be noted that I have eaten at this location on one or two prior occasions, simply for the chicken wings (which always are good). However on this particular day I set out with the desire to try something other than the wings. In saying that, I made what I thought would be a safe choice and went with the bar and grill stand by, Nachos. First of all I should note the service which is always very slow was just that way again. Though the one waitress in the entire restaurant was able to keep drinks on the table, their kitchen staff was unable to get the orders out of the kitchen in a timely manner, in fact it took over a half hour for the food to arrive at the table. Once the food did arrive I immediately noticed that the nachos that I had ordered were covered in processed cheese. I have to say that if I wanted nachos covered in processed cheese I would go to the local gas station were I can get them for a couple of bucks rather than the $8.00 charged at Weezer’s. The processed cheese was not the only problem with this dish sadly enough. The chips were of poor quality and had a stale taste to them, along with beef that would have appeared and tasted as if it had been cooked days prior, than heated until it was bone dry. My feeling is this: If you can not make a dish that is better than some slob at home can make, do not put it on your menu, because the items on your menu represent you and your establishment. You can either have someone walk away thinking of the day that they will be able to return or have someone run away looking for the closest restroom.

Weezer's as stated above, Service--First of all their server was friendly and was very timely on drink refills. I had the beef burrito which was good and plenty but would be better served wet. I also had teriyaki wings and they were excellent. Weezer's has always had great wings that come in 4 or 5 different flavors. I will note I didn't leave hungry but was a bit rushed as the food arrived at about 35 min. and we were on our lunch.
